Download and Installation Instruction for the Firefox Extension

System Requirement

• Firefox browser 3.0 or higher.
• Unicode fonts installed in your system.

Download and Install

1. Go to Firefox extension site from Firefox browser. [Currently in Sandbox. You need to logon with free registration to download from Firefox Addon Site. But it has a lot of advantages to download for there.] You may use this alternate download site. (This one supports Firefox 3.5).
2. Wait till the Download and Save window pops up. [ Required only if downloaded from the alternate download site ]
3. Save the file in a directory (say, C:\temp). [ Required only if downloaded from the alternate download site ]
4. From the Firefox browser, browse to the directory where you saved the Bongolipi.xpi file (e.g. file://C:/temp). Click on Bongolipi.xpi. [ Required only if downloaded from the alternate download site ]
5. A window will popup. And after couple of seconds the 'Install' button will be activated.
6. Click on the 'Install' button and follow online instructions.

Startup

1. When you restart your browser after installation, you will see the BonGoLipi icon on the statusbar.
2. A single-click will toggle the Bongolipi Engine enabled or disabled. The disabled state the icon is grey:
3. A write-click will popup the Bongolipi menu. In this menu you can set the options for the session. Keep in mind that once you close the browser the options will be lost.
         

4. Bongolipi can be activated in any area where you can type text, except in Rich Text Areas. In any such area, if you point your mouse and right-click, you will see there is a new BonGoLipi menu added to the existing context menu
     
   To activate BonGoLipi for the text input area, click on Activate Bongolipi Here. Now you can write BonGoLipi in the text area by simple typing. If you want to write English in the area Control-E (Ctrl button and letter E together) will temporarily deactivate BonGoLipi so that you can type English there. When you want to switch back to write BonGoLipi, press Control-E  again.  In other words, Ctrl-E will toggle between BonGoLipi and English typing.

5. If the text area is already activated for BonGoLipi, the BonGoLipi context menu will show a Deactivate Bongolipi Here menu item. You can deactivate BonGoLipi for the input area by clicking on that menu item. When you move away from a page, all activated input areas will be automatically deactivated. When you revisit the same page, if you want to type BonGoLipi, you will have to reactivate the input area.
