- Can I use BonGoLipi in GMail?
- Yes. If you use the Plain Text editor on GMail.
- Can I use BonGoLipi in Yahoo! Mail?
- Yes. Only if you use Yahoo! Mail Classis and the Plain Text editor.
- Can I use BonGoLipi in Hotmail?
- Can I write Bangla scrap in Orkut using BonGoLipi?
- Can I write Wall-To-Wall/Comment etc. in Facebook using BonGoLipi?
- Can I use BonGoLipi in my favorite web-based application?
- BonGoLipi can be used in any webpage where one can input text. However, it cannot be used on on Rich Text Editors. We will support Rich Text Editors in future versions. If your favourite web application uses Rich Text Editor, you are out of luck. But most of the Web 2.0 application which use Rich Text Editors provide alternate Plain Text classic web widgets where BonGoLipi can be activated.
- How do I know if the input area is Rich Text Area.
- If you try to activate BonGoLipi in any Rich Text Editor, even if it says 'Plain Text', BonGoLipi will alert you that the area is actually a Rich text Area.
- I sent a mail/scrap to a friend and he/she said Bengali on her computer is coming jumbled up.
- BonGoLipi uses Unicode. The recipient application must have proper Unicode rendering engine. For example, Firefox browser prior to version 3.0 had a faulty rendering engine on certain platforms. Opera browser still do not render Bengali unicode properly.
- Do I have to install any new font?
- Most probably: No. All modern operating system (rather, Windowing System) by default install at least one Unicode font that can render Bengali. For example, MS Windows install Vrinda font. However, if you do not like the font, you can use your own.
- How can I use custom Unicode font?
- Install your favorite Unicode font on your system.
- Go to Firefox Edit -> Preference or Tools -> Options (depending upon your Operating System)
- Open Content tab and click Advanced... button under Fonts & Colors
- Select Bengali from Fonts For dropdown
- Select your favourite fonts from the Serif, Sans-serif and Monospace dropdowns
- Click OK and Close respectively
- Where can I find Bengali Unicode fonts?
- Rememeber, search engines like Google and Yahoo are your friends. A search on bengali unicode font will give a lot of usefult links. For the impatients, the following two pages may be good starting points. Remember, You do NOT require any other software to use these fonts.
- Is there any plan to have an Internet Explorer plugin?
